Poppy (mother, right) and Paddy (son, left) had an elderly owner who loved them dearly. Unfortunately as he got older it was harder for him to care for them. They became wild and unhandled and we were asked to take them in.

Because they are unhandled it is very difficult to give them farrier & healthcare, so sometimes you may notice that they are due a trim! But don't worry, they have an awesome farrier and are slowly learning that humans can be trusted.

If you visit please say hello, but be aware that Paddy is a naughty boy and occasionally tries to nip people.

Esmeralda is a lovely coloured donkey who was born in Ireland. When we went to collect Esme as a companion to another donkey in our care we found that she was living alone, receiving inadequate hoof-care from an unqualified trimmer, and covered in scabs.

​

Today she is happy, although she does unfortunately have a re-occurring issue known as 'club foot' which requires frequent care. We dream of finding the other donkeys she came from Ireland with, as donkeys form lifelong bonds and although Esme likes her current company, we know she's missing another donkey dearly.

Esme's passport was registered by 'Mrs Carol Cunningham' in Ireland on 12/10/2015. Her life number is 826069 000208099 and she is passported as a grey donkey named Rodney although her chip does match the one on the passport. Do you have or know of any donkeys registered by the same lady on the same date?

These 2 lovely miniature donkeys came from a breeder in South Wales. Unfortunately the breeder in question was an irresponsible mass-breeder who had little regard for the safety and health of her donkeys. We decided to go ahead with the purchase to remove Gucci & carter from that situation, and once they were in our care we ensured the RSPCA were aware of the situation.

Luckily with a lot of help and a lot of persistence the remaining donkeys from that particular farm were seized by the RSPCA in February 2021 and the breeder herself was subsequently found guilty of causing harm to the donkeys in her care and banned from owning equines for 10 years.

Even today Gucci & carter show the effects of their awful upbringing - both are cautious of humans and have various health issues that require monitoring.

Queen & Meela were bred by their previous owners. They are both beautiful and unique souls, however both have had struggles in life. Meela was a premature foal and even as an adult she is tiny, whereas Queen has had re-occurring issues with her sinuses.

Both the girls came from a home that did not have the farrier care they needed. Poor Meela arrived with very upright hooves (like a donkey's) and Queen's curl out as they grow. As a result both are receiving specialist farriery in our care.
